Hi guys!! Today, let's talk about grunge... yeah, that trend that had been pursuing us for many time and specially since last september: plaid shirts, birkenstocks, ripped jeans (literally), Dr Marteens, plaid slirts, t-shirts of Nirvana...

Hola chic@s!! Hoy vamos a hablar del grunge... si, esa tendencia que lleva persiguiendonos desde hace un tiempecillo y especialmente desde el pasado septiembre: camisas de leñador, birkenstocks, vaqueros rotos (literalmente), Dr Marteens, faldas a cuadros, camisetas de Nirvana...

Grunge also known as the the Seattle sound is a subgenre of rock music came from hard rock and alternative rock. Grunge is influenced also by noise rock, taking similar sounds to hard rock, heavy metal, punk and hardcore punk. Grunge was born in the late 80's with groups came from the Washington state, specially from the area of Seattle. The principal characteristics of the grunge music are guitars very distorted and energetic, guttural vocal melodies, as well as predominant drums. 

El grunge también conocido como el Sonido de Seattle es un subgénero de la música rock derivado del hard rock y del rock alternativo. El grunge también está influido por el noise rock, tomando sónidos similares del hard rock, del heavy metal y del hardcore punk. El grunge nació a finales de los años 80 con grupos provenientees del estado de Washington y especialmente del area de Seattle. Las principales características del grunge son las guitarras muy distorsionadas y energéticas, las melodías vocales guturales, así como las baterías predominantes.

During the first five years of the 90's, grunge was expanded all over the world thanks to the albums commercial success Nirvana's Nevermind, Pearl Jam's Ten, Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger, Alice in Chains' Dirt and Stone Temple Pilots' Core. Teens found on grunge a new style to follow and the fashion industry commercialized the fashion grunge, increasing the prizes of ski caps. The film "Singles" also drove to the popularity the grunge. But it wasn't until 1992 when the film was released, when it was already started the commercial phenomene of grunge.

Durante los primeros cinco años de los 90 el grunge fue expandido por todo el mundo gracias al éxito comercial de albums como Nevermind de Nirvana, Ten de Pearl Jam, Badmotorfinger de Soundgarden, Dirt de Alice in Chains y Core de Stone Temple Pilots. Los adolescentes encontraron en el grunge un nuevo estilo a seguir y la industria de la moda comercializó la moda grunge llegando a alzar los precios de los gorros de esquí. La película "Singles" también impulsó la popularidad del grunge. Fue rodada en 1991 pero no fue hasta el 1992 que fue estrenada, cuando ya había comenzado el fenómeno comercial del grunge.

The fashion grunge was born of the mix of the punk aesthetic with the typical clothes of the cold region. Grunge fashion style was characterized as I said in the introduction by the Scottish shirts (typical of the Seattle area), ripped jeans, Dr Marteens, Combers, as well as sloppy long hair.

La moda grunge nació de la mezcla de la estética punk con la ropa típica de la fría región. El estilo grunge estaba caracterizado como he dicho por la introduccion de las camisas escocesas a cuadros (típicas del area de Seattle), los vaqueros rotos, las Dr Marteens, las zapatillas Combers y el cabello largo descuidado.

The grunge popularity started to disappear in the second half of the 90's, nevertheless for some years the grunge has returned with a renewed style. Do you like it??
